SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

September was a FUN month in the Plums class! We have a really SWEET bunch of students this year. It has been really amazing getting to know them and see them form relationships with their classmates. They are all very inclusive and learning a lot from one another, which makes this teacher very happy! :)

This past month we completed our Back to School and All About Me themes. We focused on learning the rules and routines of the classroom. They have all caught on quickly! :) All About Me is one of my favorite themes of the year! We learned about body parts, our families, our EMOTIONS (which is a big one) and our five senses. We did lots of hands on activities, while exploring our five senses.

We have a literacy, math and fine motor small group weekly. During literacy small group we do an activity focusing on the letter of the week. During math small group this past month, we worked on counting skills and identifying numbers. We have been working very hard on our fine motor skills by practicing prewriting strokes (vertical and horizontal lines, circles) and tracing our names.

We will begin talking about the Farm next week, which is always a student favorite. We will talk about Apples, Farm Animals and end the month with Pumpkins in preparation for Halloween and our visit to the Farm. Looking forward to another great month of learning and fun!!
